Spring has sprung

Yes, spring has undoubtedly sprung. After the wettest month of March in thirty years, the vegetation is springing up as if it were trying to overwhelm us. Perhaps it is. Maybe it feels it deserves to get its own back.

It's become quite an adventure getting to the henhouse.

Though I'll have a lovely crop of rosemary and sage.

And not only the vegetation. Animals are doing the Spring Thing. Having looked horrifyingly large for some time, the black cat has finally produced a very good litter of kittens. Here is a video of them at less than twenty-four hours old. It's not a good video and not well focussed, because I can't really see them in the basket so had to hold out the camera and hope for the best. Well, it wasn't the best, it was barely tolerable. And the dogs were making so much noise you can't hear the mother purring loudly and contentedly as she feeds the whole gang (seven of them? Difficult to see, but could be. Very pretty, anyway.) But for what it's worth, here it is and I'll update it with something better when I can.

Her neighbour is working on her own contribution, from the cozy shelter of the oven. (It's a boring job and she spends most of the time sleeping. With her eyes open, though, just in case.)

Happy Easter, everyone!

Here is the promised update; a better photo of the kittens in the basket. It was only when I saw the photo on the computer screen that I finally saw what an interesting and varied bunch of kittens they are. Who are the fathers, I wonder?
